The organisation was formed in March 1999 and has achieved a reputation for producing new and challenging works. Balagan works with children aged between 9 and 18, recruited mainly from schools in the London Borough of Lambeth.

Welcome to the Balagan Theatre Company
Balagan was set up in 1999 by composers Marc Forde and Pete Devenport. Since our inception, we have written and performed 6 new musical shows in venues all over London. We are now in the process of recording the works, and producing interactive CD-Roms that will, we hope, enable teachers to bring our work into their schools.
News for 2011-12
Balagan is currently fundraising for autumn and spring term school projects in the London area. We are also planning the project we will be running in Salvador, Brazil during January-February 2012. And the CD of The Chalk Circle will be released later this year, with Hansel and Gretel in 2012. You can listen to the songs to all of our CDs on the Shows/Cds page.

The Chalk Circle
The Chalk Circle (by Marc Forde), is the third musical produced by the company, and is based on Brecht's original play. It was performed at the South Bank Centre, Lambeth College and Jackson's Lane Art Centre.
